Frequently asked questions.

General questions

Q: What is Phoenix Aerie?

A: Phoenix Aerie is a summer co-living program in the SF Bay Area designed for the next generation of longevity pioneers (ages 18-25). Over three months, residents live, learn, and grow together while working on projects related to longevity science and biotech and connecting to other passionate individuals and longevity-based events in the area.

Q: Why does Phoenix Aerie exist?

A: We believe that young scientists, entrepreneurs, and thinkers in longevity need a space to collaborate, challenge each other, and accelerate their work. By fostering an immersive environment of like-passioned individuals, Phoenix Aerie helps push forward breakthroughs in aging science and biotech.

Q: Who is Phoenix Aerie for?

A: Phoenix Aerie is for young people (18-25) who are deeply interested in longevity science, biotech, or related fields. Ideal applicants include but aren’t limited to:

  • Aspiring and current longevity researchers

  • Engineers, designers, and strategists passionate about the future of aging science and its integration into society—via methods traditional and non-traditional alike

  • Anyone committed to advancing human healthspan and/or lifespan

Opportunities and Outcomes

Q: What will I get out of Phoenix Aerie?

A: All participants at baseline will get the following out of participating in an instance of Phoenix Aerie:

  1. A tight-knit network of future longevity pioneers

  2. A structured yet flexible environment to work on projects and ideas

  3. Connections to researchers, investors, and other key figures in the field

  4. A platform to showcase and accelerate your work

Q: How can I stay involved after the summer?

A: After your time at Phoenix Aerie, you’ll be part of our alumni network, which includes access to continued networking, opportunities, and future iterations of the program.

Living and Logistics

Q: What’s included in the program?

A: The following will be included this year and can be expected to be included in pursuing Aeries—

Housing: A shared living space with fellow longevity-focused residents

Community: Regular discussions, peer mentorship, and networking events

Work and Research Support: Access to experts, guest speakers, and resources to help advance your work

Food and Other Essentials: Some meals and basic living essentials may be covered, increasingly so depending on funding availability

Q: How much does participating cost?

A: We are actively fundraising to cover housing, food, and public transportation for participants, so ideally nothing. Any cost (rent, food, etc.) would be to cover whatever difference remains—stay tuned for updates here!

Q: Can I work or intern while at Phoenix Aerie?

A: Absolutely—in fact, it’s more than encouraged! Part of our core mission is enabling and accelerating the journeys of all within, having a consistent commitment while participating (especially in one that pertains directly to longevity or associated biotech) is heavily recommended, and while not required, will go a long way in being accepted into an Aerie.

Application and Selection

Q: How do I apply?

A: You can apply through our application form here: https://forms.gle/8rkS4JeHojuUYSKW7

Q: What is the selection process like?

A: First, you complete the above application—this is mostly a set of background questions.

Next, we will set up a video interview to learn more about who you are, rather than just what you do/have done.

Finally, we will get back to you as soon as we can after making our final decisions.

Q: What are the selection criteria?

A: We search for a short but vital list of characteristics in potential Aerie members—

A demonstrated passion for the field of longevity

A collaborative and open approach to learning and discourse

A willingness to participate and contribute to the Phoenix Aerie community

A strong character, where it is obvious that said candidate is a caring and compassionate person.

If you fit the above characteristics, you’ve got a more than solid chance of being accepted—either this year or another.
